About Gillian Rosemary Charters
Gilly taught geography in a Knaresborough comprehensive for over twenty years before training as a probation officer. She now works part-time for a Quaker special school in North Yorkshire. Her particular talent is listening and supporting others to find the best way forward for them. Currently, she volunteers with a mental health charity where she also helps train prisoners to support their peers. She has been a trustee for a local village hall and volunteers with the Woodland Trust. She helps run a local amateur orchestra and enjoys playing her viola in her spare time. She’s been a member of the Green party for three decades as it’s the Party that has both the environment and social justice at its heart and therefore works best for everyone.
Gilly has lived in North Yorkshire for over forty years and appreciates the qualities of both the people and the landscapes. She is keen to make positive change possible to improve living conditions and the environment.
