About Andrew Rickard

I have lived in Harrogate for 15 years and the Harlow and St Georges area for the last decade. I love living here with my wife and two children as we have all the benefits of being in a thriving town but with the countryside on our doorstep. Unfortunately, the increased level of building and congestion, along with the loss of our precious green spaces, has rapidly escalated of late and needs to be addressed.

I’m standing in this election because of the frustration of seeing the growing disconnect between the common sense views of local residents and the divisive direction and decision making of those apparently in control. I will use my extensive experience of managing and chairing businesses and community groups to reverse the flow of power – local government decision making must reflect the views of the local people it represents.

I believe I will make a good councillor because of my business experience, my community engagement, and my local knowledge and connections through raising a family here. I currently run a consultancy business providing financial and strategic advice to Yorkshire based businesses. I am the immediate past Chair of Harrogate Roundtable, the current Chair of Harrogate Green Party, and a Scout Leader and rugby coach. I have qualifications in teaching, accounting, and economics.
